Pennsylvania- As a multimedia company that is operating in the news industry we have been evolving over time. We have been learning and becoming a better publication because of the feedback that we get from our readers. As a news organization we are responsible in ensuring that we are working with our team in making sure that when it comes to the news, we are reliable, fast and sensitive to the events that are happening around us.
Therefore, we want to be as transparent as possible and provide our readers with context as to how we handle ourselves with the different types of content we publish. Please read below:
Breaking news: When it comes to breaking news, we understand that it is not a matter of being the first, we do not care to be the first or last, but we also know that when we have information that we believe to be accurate and have done everything in our part to independently confirm the information our sources provide to us, we must act and publish the information we have. We will aim to seek 3 different witnesses to the breaking news events we are covering as our basis of independent verification of the facts.
Breaking news events are fast paced, and sometimes not enough information is available at the time of publication. We will aim to always provide a disclaimer with language that will inform our readers in regard to the nature of the report and ask our readers to comeback for updates of the details that we have at the time of publication. If we are not able to independently verify the facts at the time of publication, we will disclose that in between the text of the news being provided so that our readers know that what we are publishing needs to be verified by our peers and public officials, when necessary, we will also make sure we edit any wrong fact that was previously published.
When we get parts of the facts of a story incorrect, the facts will be fixed within the story as soon as possible.
We are not going to take stories down because someone or a group of people is asking for that because we do not believe the solution and journalistic standards lead us to take the approach. We welcome the criticism and messages of readers who are not happy with a story, but we won’t take a story down unless all the facts or great majority of the facts of said story are wrong.
Sources: We respect our sources and will make sure to quote and name them whenever there is an agreement between us and our sources to do so. When a source speaks in anonymity, we will quote them without naming them, we want people with information to know that they can trust us just as much we are trusting them with the veracity of information being provided to us. Anyone with potential story ideas please email us to email@example.com.
Facts of a story: We are in the industry of providing news, not ruining the lives/reputations of people or organizations, therefore, when publishing a story, the facts of the stories we publish are only going to be facts relevant to the news report. We do not care for details or stories that are focused on the private lives of people unless it is of relevance to the general public, and it affects the general public like in cases of corruption and criminal acts done by public officials, organizations & people of interest. We do not care to publish gossip.
Identification: When publishing content in our website or print newspaper we will identify what kind of content it is, for example: Opinion articles, educational, news report, etc. We have no interest in publishing opinion articles or any other form of content and make it seem like a news report, again, we have no interest in gossip and propaganda.
Ethics: In regard to ethical reporting, we continually are seeking feedback from our peers in the industry to ensure that we are doing everything we can to adhere to the ethical standards of reporting. Any person who may have a disagreement with how a news report was published or with the content of a news story, including language and images used, we want to repeat that while we accept the criticism, but we are not going to take stories down, we are always willing to edit aspects of stories we publish but we won’t take a story down simply because someone does not like how, why or what was published.
Non-partisan: We are a nonpartisan organization which means that we are not looking to benefit one specific party. We welcome different perspectives as long as those perspectives do not promote violence, and by that we mean fight speech to be more specific. Whatever party our audience belongs to, we welcome them all. We do not support abuse in any form no matter what party or religious affiliation you come from.
Contributors: Because we publish a piece of content does not mean we endorse said piece of content. As a publication we are here to host content, but we do not take sides unless the content that a contributor may be wanting to publish is promoting some sort of violence, that could be physical or digital violence.
We will proofread our contributor’s content, but we do not take responsibility for grammatical mistakes or incorrect sentence structures, we will work with our contributors and the audience to correct mistakes that are missed by our contributors or us.
Our reporting policies are subject to change as new information and better reporting techniques are developed.
We are excited to continue our work in the Pennsylvania community. Our mission is to provide access to our advertisers with their desired audiences and to provide information to both English and Non-English readers all over Pennsylvania. We are a bridge and as a bridge our goal is to promote unity, love and tolerance, values we strive for as an organization every day.
