After the pandemic forced two fallow seasons in Ibiza in 2020 and 2021, island mega-club Amnesia is closing an unusual era with an unusual pair of parties.
The famed venue will host both its opening and closing parties over a pair of nights next weekend, Oct. 22-23. The stacked lineups include dozens of artists, including DJ royalty like Adam Beyer, Jamie Jones, The Blessed Madonna and Skream. See the complete lineup below.
Ibiza clubs have been largely closed since the beginning of the pandemic, despite efforts among the Ibiza nightlife community to open doors as shifting COVID-19 protocols have allowed during the 2021 season. These sustained closures have created unease on the dance music mecca, where entertainment is a 770 million euros business.
But some light at the end of the tunnel began shining on Oct. 8, when Ibiza clubs were allowed to open under the conditions that club attendees show their COVID-19 Certificate — which is granted after two doses of the vaccine or a negative test — and that a club capacity is capped at 75%.
A representative for Amnesia tells Billboard that this last protocol was part of the reason to throw an opening and closing event, as it allows eager party people to spread out over two nights. The club features four rooms, all of which will have music next weekend.
“You can expect a whole season’s worth of pent-up partying to be released at these two epic parties,” advises a statement from the club, which is promoting the two-night rager as their “shortest but sweetest season to date.”
