Chris Evans’ talent goes well beyond the big screen. The Captain America actor took to social media last week to show off that he has musical skills, too, playing the piano in the comfort of his home and posting video of his talent on his Instagram Stories.
Evans picked Prince’s “Purple Rain” as his song of choice and expertly trilled the piano keys with ease in the clip, which he captioned, “Purple rain on a sunny day.” “Purple Rain” appeared on Prince and the Revolution’s 1984 soundtrack for Purple Rain — the No. 1 album spent 153 weeks on the Billboard 200 chart, and later re-entered the chart in 2017 at No. 4 with a deluxe reissue. The title track also hit the No. 2 spot on the Billboard Hot 100.
The actor has shared his piano-playing skills with fans in the past. In November 2020, the Captain America star filmed and posted another cover of himself playing a more classical tune. “Learning one of my favorites by Fabrizio Paterlini,” he captioned the video, dated Nov. 25.
Evans is currently in an ongoing flirtation with Lizzo after she drunkenly slid into his Instagram direct messages. “The reason I’m upset about this one is because I know I’m not going to be able to marry him. And honestly, it hurts me to the core, because da–, papa, he a rare breed! No comparing!” the singer revealed on TikTok on April 17. The following day, Evans responded to Lizzo and said, “No shame in a drunk DM. God knows I’ve done worse on this app.” Lizzo most recently joked that she and Evans should star in the upcoming remake of Whitney Houston’s The Bodyguard together.
