Kanye West vaults from No. 67 to No. 1 on the Billboard Artist 100 chart (dated Sept. 11), reigning as the top musical act in the U.S. for a third total week, thanks to his new LP Donda.
Donda roars at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 with 309,000 equivalent album units, according to MRC Data, marking the biggest week of 2021 so far, surpassing the opening week of Olivia Rodrigo’s Sour (295,000, June 5). West earns his 10th No. 1, as he becomes just the seventh artist to reach the milestone.
West also lands 23 songs on the Billboard Hot 100, making him just the second artist to tally at least that many on the chart in a single week, after Drake (who banked a record 27 on July 14, 2018). “Hurricane” leads West’s entries (all debuts from Donda) at No. 6, followed in the top 20 by “Jail” (No. 10), “Off the Grid” (No. 11), “Ok Ok” (No. 12), “Junya” (No. 16), “Moon” (No. 17) and “Praise God” (No. 20).
Halsey re-enters the Artist 100 at No. 2, powered by her new album If I Can’t Have Love, I Want Power, which arrives at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 (98,000 units) and No. 1 on Top Album Sales (70,500 copies sold). She spent a week at No. 1 on the Artist 100 in June 2017 concurrent with the chart launch of her Billboard 200 leader LP Hopeless Fountain Kingdom.
The Artist 100 measures artist activity across key metrics of music consumption, blending album and track sales, radio airplay, streaming and social media fan interaction to provide a weekly multi-dimensional ranking of artist popularity.
