Viewers of the upcoming finale of Nicole Kidman’s Hulu series Nine Perfect Strangers will hear a familiar voice as part of music featured in the episode. Country artist — and Kidman’s husband — Keith Urban recently wrote and recorded a new song, “Crimson Blue,” which will be included when the series finale airs Wednesday, Sept. 22.
According to Spotify song credits, Urban penned the song — written and performed specifically for the show — alongside Breland, Sean Small and Sam Sumser.
On Sept. 20, Urban promoted the tune via a video of himself concocting a very unique “Crimson Blue” smoothie, complete with blue milk, blue cheese, blueberries and, as Urban puts it, “special bananas from Tranquillum.” The smoothie imitates the one Kidman’s Nine Perfect Strangers character, Masha (the founder of fictional health and wellness center Tranquillum House), makes during the series. Taking another cue from the show, the actress makes an appearance in the video clip, dropping a red liquid into the blender and telling Urban, “Relax.”
In addition to the making new music, Urban is set to be honored with the Artist Career Achievement Award during the upcoming Country Radio Hall of Fame induction ceremony, to be held in Nashville in October. And on Friday (Sept. 17), Urban resumed his residency at Las Vegas’s Colosseum at Caesars Palace, which was halted after four performances last year because of the COVID-19 pandemic. After more Vegas shows this month, Urban will tour his native Australia in December, and will then bring his tour to the States in 2022.
Urban recently told Billboard’s Melinda Newman about his excitement to return to live performances, and noted how his concerts will be different following the pandemic concert shutdowns.
“We put The Speed of Now Part 1 out in September [2020], so we’ve got a batch of songs to place into the setlist — things like ‘One Too Many’ and [songs] that were still yet to come back then. So that’s exciting to get to play some of those songs live — finally!”
