Lizzo proved her ARMY bona fides on Weds. (Sept. 15) when she busted out a freestyle about the deep friendship between BTS members V and Jimin. After a tweet asking fans what her upcoming song should be about, Lizzo reacted to one novel suggestion.
“In the studio… what should I write about?” Lizzo asked, alluding to the sessions for her anticipated follow-up to 2019 breakthrough album Cuz I Love You. “Perhaps a true friendship? Like what V and Jimin have for example!,” one fan suggested.
You know that’s all she needed to get her mojo working, considering Lizzo’s avowed love for the K-pop septet and hints that she’d love to work with them someday. Soon enough, Lizzo posted a 17-second clip with a bubbly freestyle verse about V and Jimin, referring them to with the ARMY-approved name VMIN.
“I love you, you love me, just like Jimin loves some V/ Gooey like that butter B/ Gooey like that butter B/ Say I like you, you like me/ BFFs like VMIN, G,” she sings while snapping her fingers. Lizzo sings, before patting herself on the back and laughing, “hey, hey like that, hey, hey, like that!”
Lizzo’s new single with Cardi B, “Rumors,” debuted at No. 4 on the Billboard Hot 100 last month, followed up by the rapper/singer/flutists first No. 1 on Billboard’s Top Triller U.S. chart, debuting at the top of the ranking dated Sept. 4.
