The Waynesboro Police Department is investigating a complaint received on 31 May 2022 where a masked individual displaying a handgun posted a threat on social media advising that students should not go to school. Investigators have determined that the message was posted from a fictitious account. WASD was notified and determined to close the schools on 01 June. The individual responsible for posting the threat remain unidentified at this time. The FBI has been contacted and is assisting in determining the source of the malicious post.
